There’s no indoor plumbing in Skyrim, which is something you seem to have noticed. There are however, strategically placed buckets, if you know what you’re looking at. Usually they’re referred to as chamber pots. To bathe, they’d have to heat water in a large pot or cauldron, usually like what they use to cook, and use a cloth or a larger bucket. Showers don’t exist in a medieval style fantasy setting because the point is that it isn’t modern. No flushing toilets, no sinks, no showers or bath tubs. They don’t just go shit in the nearest river. Seriously.

I absolutely love it when I walk into a new place in Skyrim and the first words out of my mouth are “What the fuck is that?” followed in rather immediately by “Well that doesn’t look healthy.”
